AI Takes Shape
A site-specific pavilion is taking shape in Bolzano as an experimental investigation into the future of architecture and construction. Conceived to explore new approaches to climatic comfort in public space, the project introduces an unconventional design-to-build process in which Generative Artificial Intelligence plays an active role in shaping both the conception and realization of the built environment.

Prompted Construction
The project is led by INDEXLAB, a research laboratory for algorithmic design and digital fabrication at Politecnico di Milano, where new Prompted Construction workflows are being developed. The aim is to transform the prompt from a tool for generating images into an operative device capable of informing the construction process. The pavilion thus becomes a prototype for an integrated digital workflow in which Artificial Intelligence, computational design, and advanced fabrication operate as part of a continuous design-to-build process.

Building Innovation
Klimahouse serves as a platform connecting research and industry, bringing together scientific expertise, emerging technologies, and manufacturing capabilities. In collaboration with INDEXLAB, it will engage industry partners to translate digital experimentation into tangible construction solutions. Engineered timber, aluminium cladding, advanced connection systems, CNC machining, robotics, and augmented reality-assisted assembly will converge in the design and construction of the pavilion.

Beyond the Prototype
The pavilion will serve as a full-scale demonstrator for testing the integration of materials, manufacturing processes, and emerging digital technologies. For industry partners, participation provides an opportunity to test their expertise and solutions within an advanced applied research environment while engaging directly with emerging technological scenarios. The ambition extends beyond the realization of the pavilion itself: to anticipate new processes and production models capable of shaping the future evolution of the construction industry.
